Shoulder Plastic Surgery
The shoulder joint is held in place by a ball-shaped part of the upper arm bone (humerus) that fits into a cup-shaped part of the shoulder blade (scapula). Shoulder plastic surgery helps people who have damaged the cartilage, ligaments and other parts of the shoulder joint. It is usually done to treat a painful condition called arthritis.어깨필러
Before the operation, doctors talk with you about your condition and what the procedure involves. They will ask about your general health and any medications you take. They will also want to know if you have had any previous shoulder problems. The surgeon will need to examine the shoulder and order imaging tests.
When it is time for surgery, the surgeon will put you under general anesthesia. Most people have a nerve block as well, which will numb the area around the shoulder. Before you go into the operating room, nurses will check your pulse and blood pressure and insert an intravenous line for fluids and medicine. You may be given other medicines to help you relax and sleep during the operation.
During the surgery, the surgeon makes an incision in your skin near the joint. Using small surgical instruments, the surgeon removes the damaged parts of the joint and prepares the areas to receive artificial replacement parts. The socket part of the shoulder bone is replaced with an artificial metal piece that has a rounded head, and the cup-shaped surface of the shoulder blade is covered with a smooth plastic piece.
The surgeon will close the incision with stitches or staples and cover it with a dressing. You will be put in a sling to keep your arm from moving. Most people regain about two-thirds of the normal range of movement of their shoulder after the operation. This depends on many things, including how much movement was lost before the surgery and whether or not the soft tissues around the joint were damaged by the injury.
After surgery, you will probably have a drain in your shoulder to collect fluid and keep it from building up in the joint. You will also probably have a compression sleeve on your arm, which squeezes your arm to help prevent blood clots. You will be given pain medications and antibiotics to control your pain and infection. You will probably need to stay in the hospital for 1 to 3 days.
After you are home, you will need help at home with daily tasks, such as bathing and cooking. It will be hard to reach high shelves or cupboards. Before you have surgery, organize your house so that you can get to items easily. You may need to arrange for a visit from a physical therapist to teach you how to move your arm again and how to do simple daily activities. You will need to work with a physical therapist at least 2 to 4 times a week for several weeks to improve your strength and range of motion in your shoulder.닥터케빈의원
