Acupuncture in an Oriental Medicine Clinic for Rhinitis
Rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever, is one of the most common health problems in the world. It is estimated that millions of people suffer from it every year. The symptoms of rhinitis can include nasal congestion, watery nasal discharge and sneezing. It can also affect the eyes, making them red and itchy with involuntary tearing. Allergic rhinitis has also been linked to sinus infections and headaches.비염한의원
Medications such as oral antihistamines, decongestants and steroids can help with the symptoms of rhinitis. However, the long-term use of drugs can have adverse side effects.
In an oriental medicine clinic, acupuncture is used as a non-invasive treatment for this condition. Acupuncture works to balance the body and treat the root cause of the disease. It is an ancient medical system that has been practiced for thousands of years, based on the laws and patterns of nature.
The goal of acupuncture is to stimulate the nervous system and bring the body back into a state of balance. The treatment can be augmented with herbal medicine or a combination of techniques including cupping, gua sha and tui na. In addition, the acupuncturist will teach patients how to make lifestyle changes that support their treatment.
Currently, there is a growing acceptance of Eastern medicine practices in the Western world. Many hospitals and health care facilities are incorporating these treatments into their services. Having a strong background in Western science can help an acupuncturist communicate effectively with their MD, DO or DC colleagues at these institutions.
Acupuncture and herbal medicines have a number of benefits in treating conditions such as rhinitis. According to traditional Chinese medicine, this condition is caused by imbalances in the body’s yin and yang energies. This is due to an external pathogen, such as wind cold or wind-heat invasion; internal factors such as yin deficiency in the lung, kidney and spleen or yang deficiency in the heart, liver and spleen; or a general qi or blood stasis.
At National University, our students spend more than 1000 hours supervised in our on-campus Whole Health Center clinic, learning how to assess and treat a wide variety of conditions using acupuncture and herbal medicine. Our facility has top of the line gross anatomy labs, where our Oriental medicine and acupuncture students learn Western anatomical theory through hands-on dissection of a human cadaver. These skills are essential to developing the clinical skills necessary for a successful career in health care.라경찬한의원
