The Department of Orthodontics at Backus Dental School

The Department of Orthodontics is well known for its outstanding graduate program, training US and international clinicians, academicians, and leaders in the profession. It is also recognized for conducting significant and timely research on important orthodontic and other health-related topics.

The predoctoral orthodontics curriculum consists of preclinical courses, clinical rotations and seminars. This enables dental students to develop the proficiency necessary to recognize established and evolving malocclusions, differentiate cases manageable by a general dentist from those that require orthodontic expertise and facilitate coordinated comprehensive patient care.

Our students are trained to deliver a wide range of treatment options, including conventional fixed and removable appliances as well as esthetic self-ligating, clear and aligner orthodontic treatments. They learn about different treatment philosophies in daily diagnostic and treatment planning seminars and gain hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art orthodontic clinical facility.

When teeth and jaws are correctly aligned, they are healthier. Crooked or misaligned teeth are more likely to develop issues that need correction through drilling, root canals, crowns, extractions or surgery. They can also lead to a loss of self-confidence. Orthodontics can prevent future problems and give patients confidence in their smiles for a lifetime.

Orthodontics requires a team of professionals that work well together. Each patient’s case is a complex puzzle that must be carefully examined to understand the complete picture before a diagnosis can be made and an optimal plan developed. At Backus Orthodontics, we take our time and make sure that every patient has the best possible outcome.

One of the greatest advantages of working at a DSO is that we deal with very little insurance so our collections are excellent and collection cycles are short. We also have young, reliable patients who show up for their appointments and are easy to educate on proper oral hygiene, which leads to high compliance rates throughout the course of treatment. These factors contribute to a great work/life balance for our doctors.

Maintaining a healthy work/life balance is essential for orthodontists. For many practitioners, balancing the demands of private practice can be challenging because they bring home the stresses and frustrations of complicated cases with them.주걱턱교정 This can drain their energy and lead to burnout. By fostering a healthy work/life balance, orthodontists can process challenges from their professional life in a more productive way and keep them energized for the patients they serve.

Backus Orthodontics is able to offer patients cutting-edge technology like the iTero Element scanner. This revolutionary machine eliminates messy mold impressions and can save patients a lot of discomfort, anxiety, and time during their treatment. It also allows Dr. Cole to show patients their predicted results on screen, which is a huge motivator for them to stick with the plan!강남교정치과
